Adachi Pimentel

Scenic & Lighting Design
Adachi Pimentel is a cross-disciplinary Set and Lighting designer with an intuitive approach to live performance design. After completing her Bachelor’s in Documentary Video Production, from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia (2005), Adachi continued to develop her expertise in visual storytelling. Her 15-year career as a commercial photographer inspired her curiosity in lighting design and a desire for collaboration. This led her to pursue and complete an MFA in Theater Design from the University of New Orleans (2023), where she honed her skills in various design disciplines. Her ability to serve as both scenic and lighting designer, often simultaneously, speaks to her comprehensive understanding of theatrical design and her commitment to creating transformative experiences.

Her most recent theater work includes Everybody (Loyola University), Outraged Hearts (Big Couch, New Orleans and Torn Page, NYC), Sweet Bird of Youth (Marigny Opera House), and We Will Dream Theater Festival (2023).

Adachi has garnered significant recognition, including the SETC 2022 Kennedy Center for Excellence in Scenic Design, and as a 2015 Lee-Way Foundation ACG Grantee. Her work has been featured both nationally and internationally including the London Design Festival, Philadelphia Folklore Project, and published in Apartamento Magazine. Throughout her career Adachi has continued to demonstrate her versatility, working on productions ranging from film to the stage and live music performance.

Adachi hails from New York City and is currently based in New Orleans where she continues to contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of the city.
